Bone Morphogenetic Protein

Bone morphogenic protein (better known as BMP) is a specific protein found in our bodies that promotes viable mature natural bone to rapidly form. The benefits of BMP include: predictable bone formation in large bony defects, new bone formation providing support for dental implants for long term osseointegration, and the surgeon does not need to harvest bone from a secondary site. Complications from the graft harvest site are also eliminated with the use of bone morphogenetic protein.

Dr. Moy was one of the first Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to use BMP inside of the mouth at the UCLA Dental Implant Center, he was also part of the research and development team working with Medtronic Corporation completing the clinical trials required to receive FDA approval for using rhBMP-2 intra-orally.

Dr. Moy or Dr. Kahenasa would be happy to discuss all grafting options as well as choices for grafting materials with you at the time of consultation.
